Tertio. Paratum habeas palimpsestum, in quo lineae musicales pro quatuor vocibus, Cantu, Alto, Tenore, Basso notatae. Sintque quatuor strophae hymno, Ave maris stella, seu Euripidaeis versibus conformes.
Hisce praestitis, ordieris compositionem propositam hoc pacto. Cum Tonus II. mollis sit, scalam musicalem A B C D E F G, singulis quatuor vocibus congruam primo describes in palimpsesto. Quas scalas sive signationes vocum tibi exhibebit Baculus niger crassior, et albo vicinus; in ejus una parte est scala pro signando Cantu molli, in altera pro Cantu duro, uti hic vides.
