Use of the abbreviation tag

Hello Carolina,
I'm opening another topic to better explain how to use properly the abbreviation tag, since in this matter I am seeing the guidelines are outdated. So, when you add the tag, you don't have to use any other editorial style, such as square brackets. E.g. you mark <span class="abbreviation" style="text-decoration: underline dotted" title="">Seren[issi]<hi rend="superscript">me</hi></span>, instead it should be <span class="abbreviation" style="text-decoration: underline dotted" title="Serenissime">Seren.<hi rend="superscript">me</hi></span>.
So differences are mainly two:

  1. you just transcribe what you see in the text: Seren.me
  2. within the tag there is the attribute title and here, between the quotation marks, you should add the whole word as you can see in the example above

Please let me know if this is clear.
Bye!

Good morning, Lorenzo! Thank you for your help! This explanation is very clear, indeed. The letters in bracket were already in the document when I started reviewing it and I wasn't sure about how to deal with them. I'll follow these instructions from now on. Bye!
