They compare it to the ב in the word בָּרִישֹׁאנַה (ba-rishonah [at the first, Gen. 13,4]) We know the bet in ba-rishonah to be superfluous for we find they shall set forth first רִישֹׁאנָה (rishonah, Num. 2,9), Ibn Ezra's commentary on the Pentateuch translated and annotated by H.
