Abstract Calandrelli apologizes for having not written directly to Secchi regarding printing errors and explains why he instead opted to write to Paolo Rosa. He continues on to write about some of his findings as well as some of his aims. Then, he mentions the findings of others such as Urbain Le Verrier at the Observatoire de Paris. He writes that he has neglected to observe a certain comet - presumably the subject of the observations and findings he mentioned - for the past few days and that if he ever returns to observing it, he will communicate directly with Secchi regarding future printing errors. He moves on to state that he may come to Rome for the funeral of Vincenzo Santucci and remarks on the difficulties - personal and otherwise - of the times.
