"praecipuum" --> "principium" = "excellence/superiority" --> "beginning"
hoc est primum quod quaerunt ex ipsis tamquam praecipuum[4] suppositum[5] ut scilicet illi[6] deponant[7] omnem passionem
= this is the first time they seek that out of themselves the same as the ___ having been substituted so obviously that they cast away all suffering.
"praecipuum" may be the correct word for the context
