Iesus Christus id peteret, et Virgo Maria, et Sanctus, vel Sancti cuius aliquorum festivitatem celebrarem. (as if) Jesus Christ would ask for it, and the Virgin Mary, and the Saint, or the feast of some Saint I was celebrating.
Iesus Christus id peteret, et Virgo Maria, et Sanctus, animae quae cruciantur in purgatorio.
The addition changes the end of the sentence -- rather than it being some saint or other whose feast day he is celebrating, it is the collection of souls langishing in purgatory.
Basically saying that what he wants is justified because it is as if God himself (or Mary or various saints) wants it.
