My dear SirI was much gratified by your
letter of August 1, partly because
it gave me an opportunity of showing
how highly I value the numerous
communications which I have received
from you.
I delivered your Spectrum of Arcturus
to my First Assistant Mr. Stone, who
is Secretary of the R. Astronomical Society.
A of the Monthly Notices is usually
published in the decline of summer,
when, I doubt not, your paper
and diagram will appear.
And I made inquiry of Mr. De
La Rue about the Kew Photographs of
the Sun. I enclose a full copy
of his answer, which appears to
