Nasce a Palermo il 31 maggio 1536, entra nella Compagnia di Gesù a Palermo a settembre del 1556, professo di 4 voti il 26 dicembre 1568. Muore a Palermo il 16 giugno 1619.
Provinciale di Sicilia (1577-81, 1582-1586, 1598-1601);
Visitatore di Polonia (1581) e della Veneta (1589-90);
Vice-Assistente d'Italia (1587-89);
Provinciale della Romana (1589-94).
Durante il suo provincialato romano si lega a due confratelli che dopo saranno santi: san Luigi Gonzaga e san Roberto Bellarmino. Con quest' ultimo ha una familiarità molto profonda, come si può vedere nelle quarantanove lettere che il cardinale Roberto Bellarmino invia a Carminata. È considerato il secondo fondatore della Provincia di Sicilia della Compagnia di Gesù. [1] [2][3]
