Abstract Firstly, Aguilar communicates to Secchi his concern about the payment for the meteorological instrument, expresses gratitude for his collaboration, and continues the discussion regarding its construction. Next, he discusses the optical instruments and photographic apparatus that will be taken on the solar eclipse expedition. Subsequently, he informs that he has received the article and the memorandum from the Roman observatory and has sent the Madrid counterpart. Finally, Aguilar provides some examples of important astronomers who will be attending the solar eclipse and mentions the variety of observatories on the Iberian Peninsula. He also requests that Secchi carry photographs of celestial bodies on his journey for comparison with his own.
