Sir George Biddell Airy (1801-1892) was a prominent English astronomer and mathematician. He is best known for his work as the Astronomer Royal of the United Kingdom, a position he held from 1835 to 1881. In this role, he was responsible for the Royal Observatory in Greenwich and played a significant role in advancing astronomy and navigation.
