This a short guide for creating and editing bibliography entries, to contribute to the Bibliographia Kircheriana, Angelo Secchi Bibliography, Pasquale D'Elia Bibliography and Jesuit Drama Bibliography.

Create new entries

If you want to create a new entry use tht specific form:

Step 1: check if your entry already exists

Before adding new entries, you must check if they are already listed in the bibliography. For this purpose, you can use the search function of the table displayed in the page. Search is made just within the fields of the table (Author, Title, Year, Language, Bibliographic level), even if a single bibliographic entry has more fields - as we are going to see. Once you start typing, the results begin to be filtered. The search is case sensitive, so e.g. 'là' is different from 'la'.
We recommend to do an accurate search before adding other entries.

Step 2: create a new entry

Once you are sure your entry is not present in the bibliography, you can add it clicking on 'To create a new entry click here'. You will be linked to a form page that you should fill following the indications below.

Step 3: fill the bibliography entries form

Bibliographies could contain both ancient and modern references. We decided to treat them differentely, according to the following rules.

Modern bibliographical items (printed after 1830)

Name(s)

Fill this field with the names responsible for the publication, usually author(s) or editor(s). Some rules:

  • Always use the form 'Surname, Name'
  • In case of two or more names, separate each one with a semicolon
  • • There shall be no addition of indications about the names, such as 'a cura di', 'edited by' or qualifications such as 'SJ', 'prof.', 'PhD' etc.

While typing, this field suggests possible completions of the name you are recording. If a name is already present, you can select it instead of continuing typing. Please, be careful not to duplicate already existing names, e.g changing their spelling: if you should notice a mistake in some spellings, please contact us and we will provide to correct the mistake in the whole database.

Title

Write down the title as it appears on the publication. To insert italics, you must use the tag <i>, not the usual wiki markup.
E.g.
<i>Storia d'Italia</i> is rendered as Storia d'Italia.

Place of printing

DO NOT USE FOR ITEMS PRINTED AFTER 1830

Printer

DO NOT USE FOR ITEMS PRINTED AFTER 1830

Year

Fill with the year of the publication, using the form 'YYYY'. Do not add any other date indication.

Language

Use the correspondent language code provided in ISO 639-2/B. Following a list of the most common codes:

  • dut = Dutch
  • eng = English
  • fre = French
  • ger = German
  • grk = Greek
  • ita = Italian
  • lat = Latin
  • spa = Spanish
  • zho = Chinese

In case of publications in more than one language, you can add other codes, separating them with a semicolon.

Use this field when an entry is contained in a book or in a journal.
E.g.

Choose the bibliographic level of the entry you are describing, among the following options:

Preference is given to links to Pontifical Gregorian UNiversity Library OPAC and SBN OPAC.
